With the motto of providing higher education to rural and tribal people in Igatpuri tehsil, Maratha Vidya Prasark Samaj laid a foundation stone as Arts and Commerce College in 1981. Initially it was hosed in a rented building provided by municipal corporation Igatpuri in tinlakdi area.
In 2001 the College is shifted in campus of 8.5 acre piece of land in the vicinity of scenic mountain of Sahydri beside National Highway NH-3 about four kilometers from Igatpuri and Ghoti towns. The college basically aims at providing all the amenities infrastructure and quality education to the rural and tribal students. From its opening till today the college has made stupendous progress in achieving its goal. However, it has touched the zenith of success since the college has got hardworking, skillful expert and highly qualified faculties. As a result most of the students of this college achieved remarkable success in different share of life.
